I've shared this with others but please read.

FIP

I’ve worked at a veterinary hospital for four years even though I’m now only part time and I’ve seen older cats and a ten month old kitten, Misty who adorable and loved to play fetch, die from this disease. But last October my sister was going to class and a stray came up and started purring at her. So she took him home and drove him down to me so I could take him in. He was in early stages of liver failure and horribly dehydrated and starved from being dumped on the street. But after meds and fluids and a loving owner he started getting better and filling out. She named him The Dude.

Then he started getting skinny again and more lethargic. I made the trip up to her, brought him back, and was then told he has FIP. Of which there is no cure. Over the past few months I’ve been doing everything I can to help him keep going but there’s nothing left and this next Saturday I’ll be going up and bringing him down for his last vet visit that way my sister doesn’t suffer through him going and he doesn’t get upset his person took him to his most hated place.

So long story short if you could share the need for research into FIP I’ll be grateful forever and even if the Dude dies at two years, he may help other cats survive.

There's no real donate here to help fund the research for a cure, which should tell you how much there needs to be one, but a lot of veterinary schools are looking into it along with private individuals. But if people start talking about this disease more people will be interested in finding that cure or treatment.
